All the events of March 9, 2014 from Donetsk on photos and videos

The entire day journalists of “Novosti Donbassa” were providing live coverage of events from Donetsk “hot spots”. A group of Donetsk citizens was conducting a meeting in support of unity and sovereignty of Ukraine on Soborna square (monument of St.Michael) at 15h00. There were plans for set up of the stage and sound equipment.

At 10 am, the region’s governmental officials have put flowers to the monument of Taras Shevchenko commemorating the poet’s 200 year anniversary.

At 11 am, the leader of “UDAR” political party Vitaliy Klitchko has held a press conference in Donetsk.

As to the pro-Russian meeting, the event was to take place on Lenin square at 12h00. Starting from 2 pm, the pro-Russian activists have marched on Artema street to the “Donetsk City” and were changing Ukrainian flags to Russian ones. 

At 2 pm, there were about 100 people with flags of Ukraine by the monument of Taras Shevchenko. There are no records of clashes between the protesters.
