Main News of Donbas: Difficult situation with the flu; Accusatory film about Putin

On January 17, militants shelled the ATO forces' positions 48 times. Three ATO militaries were wounded in the Donbas. According to Andriy Lysenko, Presidential Administration spokesperson on ATO related issues, the main hostilities were held near Donetsk.

News from the territory controlled by Ukrainian government

The situation with the flu and acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) is alarming.

According to Olha Holubchenko,Chief of the city council health care department, 11 people have died since the time the first cases were registered. All in all, 1905 people came to hospital, according to the last week data, which is lower than the epidemy level. Among them, 44% are children though they are not going to declare quarantine in all schools. According to Donetsk regional administration, 17,689 cases of the flu and ARVI were registered during the period of January 11-17 that is 2.5 times higher than it was the week before. The epidemy level is exceeded by 1.6 times. This night 3 people died of pneumonia in the hospital in Dimitrov. In Druzhkivka, town Head Valeriy Hnatenko is suing local activist Iryna Kyrykova. The woman claims that Hnatenko collaborated with militants and «DPR» grouping supporters. The mayor denies it.

News from the occupied territory

Twelve deaths as flu - and ARVI-related complications have been registered on the occupied territory of the Donetsk regions since the beginning of the year, according to the information presented by the illegal «DPR» organization. Horlivka residents have to live in the basement of school #75 because of shellings and destroyed houses. The school itself is not working. The basement is inhabited by a retired woman and her son. Their house is completely destroyed. The woman says that they can't restore the house by themselves.
