Illegal armed formations shelled ATO positions 29 times on January 20. The majority of cases of ceasefire violations were observed in the vicinity of Donetsk Airport. Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO related issues, reported during the daily briefing that 6 Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in the military action.
News from the territory controlled by Ukrainian government
Oleksandr Ruzhansky, Sergeant at the Military Law Enforcement Service, who is being tried now, states that he will be accused of aiding terrorists in the near future. Currently he is accused of disruptive behaviour and using arms. Ruzhansky also said that he had terminated the hunger strike after his relatives started to ask him to.
Two more people died of pneumonia in Krasnoarmiysk (the Donetsk region) on January 20. 7 people have died in the town during the epidemic. The quarantine in Krasnoarmiysk schools was extended for one week more, till January 31, due to the difficult epidemiological situation.
4 people died of hypothermia in the Donetsk region on January 20. 167 cases of hypothermia have been observed in the region according to regional state administrations, 10 people have died.
Iryna Heraschenko, MP, wrote on her Facebook page that doctors and nurses of Svitlodarsk hospital got their salaries after 11 months in arrears. This delay can be explained by the fact that the hospital is situated on the territory which is controlled by Ukraine, but is officially subordinated to the town council of occupied Debaltseve.
The bodies of Ukrainian militaries perished while defending Donetsk Airport have been identified almost completely. It was said by Stepan Poltorak, Minister of Defense of Ukraine. He also stressed that compensations and social help have been paid to the families of the perished militaries.
The OSCE SMM registered disappearance of military equipment from the places of its storage of both sides of the conflict. As it was said by Aleksabdr Hug, Deputy Chief of the OSCE SMM, at the briefing, the withdrawn weaponry was absent at the places of the storage. Besides, tanks and mortars banned by the Minsk Agreements are employed while shelling the outskirts of Donetsk.
Reports from the occupied territory
Illegal «DPR» reported about issuing almost 10,000 «DPR» car license plates to 9820 residents.
Illegal «DPR grouping has made the decision to retrain teachers of Ukrainian on the occupied territory.
The occupants explain that this program is required by the current situation when the number of academic hours allotted to Ukrainian is reduced.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Education developed a bill which will make it possible for residents of occupied territories to become students of Ukrainian universirties and schools. There will be special order of the recognition of qualifications obtained by school and university students on occupied territories. There will also be special quottas for school leavers from occupied territories.
