Main news of Donbas: residential houses damaged in shellings; situation with flu remains tense

There were 40 attacks on ATO positions on December 27. Militants shelled Ukrainian positions in Opytne, Pisky, Avdiivka, Maryinka, Mayorsk, Troitske and Trekhyzbenka. According to the information provided by ATO press centre, Ukrainian Armed Forces did not incur casualties.

The number of flu and ARVI cases in Dobropillya and Dobropillya district has decreased. The situation remains problematic in Svyatohorivka and Annivka secondary schools as the number of flu and ARVI cases there is quite high.

A residential house was damaged as a result of shelling in Maryinka. There were no casualties. The police classified the accident as a terrorist attack.

12 localities Donbas are to be renamed: 11 in the Donetsk region and 1 in the Luhansk region. Artemivsk district (the Donetsk region) is to be renamed into Bakhmut district.
The broadcasting of Dzerzhynsk (the Donetsk region) town council TV company is to be boosted with the help of a 200W transmitter. The current signal of Dzerzhynsk «TV Company TRC-8» is of poor quality as the equipment is outdated.

News from the occupied territory


There is information in MM on the territory controlled by militants that the «DPR» leader Aleksandr Zakharchenko promises to restore residential houses destroyed by the war. Despite these loud claims, the restoration has not started, and residents of Donetsk have to winter with windows closed with oilcloth and plywood. Residents of Petrovskiy district have been waiting for restoration since the middle of 2015.


170 primary and 155 comprehensive schools are working in occupied Donetsk. As the occupational administration claims, the number of people working at schools has doubled since 2014–2015 academic year. At the same time, Udovenko himself does not know the exact number of working secondary and primary schools. Now 13,000 children do to primary and 47,000 — to secondary schools in Donetsk.

Members of the illegal «DPR» are going to establish a so-called «ministry of industry and trade». The aim of it will be monitoring businesses. Earlier Zakharchenko informed about the plans to reduce budget spendings on «ministries» and some of them will be closed.
During the shelling of Donetsk, one of the shells got into the yard of a dwelling house. According to witnesses, there were no distructions, and nobody was injured. They assume the fire was conducted from an infantry fighting vehicle.

During 2015, 93 workers of «Makeevugol» enterprise in occupied Makiivka were injured, and 5 of them died. Most frequently accidents are caused by collapses, cavings, falling of people or things. «DPR» claims that the number of injuries reduced by more than 100 cases compared to 2014.
