On October 21, at about 2.30 p.m., in Mariupol, a driver of “Hyundai Accent” ran over a boy who was crossing the road by a pedestrian crossing. The boy died of injuries in hospital. The State Department of Traffic Police in the Donetsk region reports that the driver faces 8 years'imprisonment.
Pavlo Zhebrivsky, head of Donetsk regional military and civil administration informed that on October 26, the next day after the election, the authorities of the Donetsk region are going to begin the inspection of Mariupol plants. This inspection is to determine if the plants observe the ecological norms. The Governor says that the inspection is to begin on October 26 to avoid accusations of being politically biased.
Oleksiy Reva, Artemivsk Mayor, stated during the meeting of Donetsk Regional Military and Civil Administration board that long queues consisting of people who want to leave the occupied territory gather at Artemivsk checkpoint. According to Reva's words, 700 vehicles went through the checkpoint on Wednesday (October 21) and 1900 vehicles crossed it on Thursday (October 22). “On Wednesday we did not let 350 people go through the checkpoint. I do not understand why there is so much fuss there. This situation can end in social explosion”, - stated Reva.
More than 9.2 thousand residentail houses and industrial buildings have been damaged on the territory of the Donetsk region since the beginning of the conflict. The estimated economic damage is 3 bln UAH, as Oksana Holovko, director of the Department of investment and innovative development of Donetsk Regional State Administration, claimed.
Donetsk Regional State Administration informed which towns of the region are trying to avoid decommunization. On the territory which is controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, the situation is the worst in Uhledar. “None of those questions has been put on the agenda in Uhledar, Dymytriv, Krasnoarmiysk, Mariupol. For example, 200 public hearings on the renaming issues have taken place in Selidove”, said Viktor Andrusiv, deputy governor of the Donetsk region.
The illegal “DPR” organization deprived a charity organization “Médicines sans Fronières” of its accreditation on the occupied territory.
A secretary of the “Young Republic” separatist organization was detained in the Kyiv region. The press secretary of the Securty Service of Ukraine reports that the organization had been established under the supervision of Aleksandr Zakharchenko, the leader of the so-called “DPR” and the militant “Motorola”. “The specialization of the fake organization was to involve the Donbas youth into the separatists' illegal armed formations”, reads the report.
